Zdeněk studied law at the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno, Czechia (master in law and legal science; Ph. D. in private international law; J.D. in public international law) and The European University Institute in Florence, Italy (LL. M. in International, European and Comparative laws). Zdeněk is a senior lecturer at the Department of International and European Law, Faculty of Law, Masaryk University in Brno, attorney-at-law, arbitrator (VIAC; ICC; Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic; The Court of Arbitration for Art attached to the Netherlands Arbitration Institute), and a legal expert in international arbitration and foreign courts.

In his academic work, Zdeněk has an interest in international investment protection, international arbitration, contract law, and the law of international treaties. His publications have been referred to in 15 states. In legal practice, specifically medium-to-large-sized legal offices seek his advice in both classic and non-traditional areas of law as well as complex and high-profile cases where issues unresolved by case-law and academic commentaries arise. His clients appreciate namely the extensive knowledge of law and the art of concise, original, and detailed argumentation. Zdeněk also has extensive experience with foreign laws.

Zdeněk speaks English, French, and Italian, and has a passive knowledge of German, Polish, and Spanish.
